A.C. Roper, founder and Chief Executive Officer of a leadership consulting LLC is a distinguished, transformative leader with influence extending from local grassroots community initiatives to pivotal national leadership roles. He retired in 2024 as Deputy Commander, U.S. Northern Command, responsible for homeland defense and disaster support for civilian authorities. In this assignment, his command prepared and responded to threats against North America, including Russian Long Range Aviation, North Korean missile launches, the Chinese high altitude balloon and operations supporting over 80,000 Afghan evacuees.
In his civilian capacity, Roper has thirty-three years of law enforcement experience culminating with his 10 year tenure as the Chief of Police of the Birmingham Police Department. Darryl L. Rivers was born and raised in inner city Detroit Michigan. At the age of 17,
while he was still in High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. For Darryl, this
was the beginning of a life of service. He became an NCO at the age of 20 and was
given the responsibility of Persian Gulf Operations of military ordnance during Operation
Desert Shield. After his military career, he returned to his hometown and joined the
Detroit Police Department. He served as a patrol officer, special operations officer,
armed robbery task force, headquarter surveillance unit, and ATF task force officer
before relocating to Arizona. There he was a Detective with the Department of
Corrections, a Lead Special Agent of the Tobacco Enforcement Unit with the Office of the
Attorney General and managing over 100 personnel. Still having the desire to put on a
uniform and man a patrol car, Darryl decided to go back to his beginnings. He joined the
Goodyear Police Department and within a year and a few months became the lead
hostage negotiator, defensive tactics/physical fitness instructor, public information
officer, president of the Fraternal Order of Police and later became a patrol sergeant.
After his retirement, Darryl stayed connected to the law enforcement community as a
civilian by functioning as a Public Education Specialist with the Peoria Police
Department and a Hiring Manager, Director of Security and Trainer with the Arizona
Department of Economic Security.
Darryl is the founder and owner of The Betterment Group which is a national Human
Behaviors, Communication, and Leadership training company with its primary focus
being Law Enforcement and Government entities. Darryl is an international public
speaker, published author, Psychology major, Certified Human Behavior and Emotional
Intelligence Analyst and performance coach. He also served as an Executive Director
with the worlds largest leadership company "The John Maxwell Team.”

It's Back, how we adjust our leadership to server-ship. It isn't easy, staying true to your convictions while managing others, and serving your community, but is does work. Come and share in the trials and tribulations of leadership, "Lessons Learned, Opportunities Gained." This is not a spiritual retreat, this is leadership training at it's best, with the rigor that is expected in all leadership training. We just add a little concept of serving to our brand. You can serve in many ways, and in more ways than one. Importantly, you should always serve your rank and file; and you can also serve upward as well.. What does it all mean? Focusing on leadership principles and ensuring it's effectiveness. Building trust, Commitment, and Performance. Bridging the gap between citizenry and policing.
