- This course was designed to give the attendees an advanced understanding of the types of searches and seizures permitted and supported by Case Law. We will discuss search warrant searches as well as warrantless searches. We will take a detailed approach to discussing and understanding the 4th Amendment. We will review a variety of Supreme Course Cases and rulings from the Justices. This course also focuses on Probable Cause, Exclusions, Exceptions, and the potential consequences of improper searches. We will review case law as it pertains to vehicular stops, schools, vessels, residential, search of persons, passengers, businesses, etc. We will address the importance of compliance to the laws and practices (law enforcement) and how this impacts the prosecutions of cases. Citizens have a right to privacy and are protected against violations of their privacy, therefore, proper execution of the law can result in preserving the privacy and protections that citizens all share. However, protections and privacy can be limited by the circumstances of the case. Therefore, law enforcement officers must be diligent in their understanding of the law and amendments to the law.
