Power versus authority

Additional Information

This course is based on the struggle between emotions, training, and stress and how these items impact and potentially alter the outcomes of events.  We all have situations where we wish that we could get a redo, or quite frankly, we wish it didn't happen in the first place.  In Law Enforcement, the choice between Power and Authority could have devastating consequences if managed inappropriately.  There is an appropriateness for most things, and so our intentions must match the desired outcomes.  This course focuses on the use of Power and Authority and how each can be used as an asset or detriment.  We will assist the attendees in not only understanding the differences, but how to effectively navigate through both.  We will witness classic examples of when things went terribly wrong and/or exactly how intended.  When we engage the public, we must be mindful of our training, policies, and best practices.  We will work through this topic, and sharpen our approaches to interacting through different reality based scenarios.
